Walking Supernaturally with Jesus.

My dad had a million dollar question that burned within him: How do you let the Holy Spirit out? He knew the Holy Spirit was inside of him. He knew that he wanted to heal, but like many others, he didn't know how to let the Holy Spirit out. He asked our pastors but they didn't have the answer.

He heard about how David and Patricia Lage had gotten thousands of people activated to operate in the authority of Jesus and release the Holy Spirit's power.

He talked to them on the phone, then decided to hop on a bus to get down there and go on a trip with the Lages.

He came back different; on fire if you will.

Now, that year the pollen counts were off the charts, due to an unseasonably warm winter. I normally didn’t have a problem with the pollens, but I started to experience bad seasonal allergies.

Miserable, the only relief I could find was in and air-conditioned and filtered air home.

Dad excitedly talked about the simplicity of healing.

I resisted because I held to ideas about healing and this just didn't fit.

Finally, dad grabbed my two hands like jumper cables, spoke not more than one sentence with intensity, and in seconds all symptoms of allergies left!

Healing Made Simple

My dad believed! He released the kingdom. It worked! It surpassed my barriers. It didn’t take hours of "healing the root" or getting rid of the "devil's right," it took one moment of believing.

"Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" (John 11:20 Berean Study Bible

However, my heart was not truly won over by this simplicity until years later.

Two Things that Create Results:

The Lages do two main things that create effective Christians to release power, heal the sick, and cast out devils.

1. Go spirit first. How? They told my dad to loudly speak a command from his belly because Jesus said out of your belly will flow rivers of living water

While it sounds quite funny, it actually works! Oftentimes it’s helpful to speak loudly because it helps us break out of our head, it requires boldness to get loud, and thus it helps us be convinced that the words we speak WILL happen.

Some may ask, "Can I speak quietly and get results?"

Yes! However, if I pray quietly because I’m afraid to get loud, it has already beat me. So practically, for most of us, getting loud is the quickest way to break out of our head into the spirit where the power flows.

When we put faith into action, supernatural God things happen:

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well." (Mark 16:17-18 Berean Study Bible)

They addressed the common “What about__?” questions that complicates healing that seem to be based in Scripture. Like what about Job? What about Paul’s thorn? What about Epaphroditus sickness or Timothy’s tummy? When the word of God is rightly divided in those passages, it no longer limits but frees. The devil is the limiter, not God. He has twisted the word of God since the beginning to dam people up from the river of God flowing.

While we can get activated to speak out of our spirit and see people healed, our theology filtered through our mind may stop us up later on.

When I got activated by the Lages, the Spirit of God within me superseded my doctrine and still worked for a short time via getting loud and bold. However, I made getting loud and bold the thing rather than faith in God, and it stopped working. I also held fast to limiting beliefs.

3 ½ years after the initial training with Lages, I got to a humble place and let go of my ideas on healing and started over. I changed from the inside out and embraced that simplicity. I surrendered and gave up trying to figure everything out. Healing got simple.

Surrender is how you sustain the things that creates results

Surrender is the heart that says, God, I just want You to live through me and move in me; whatever it takes I will do. Mean every word you say. Don't just mouth the words, "I surrender" but humble your heart. Focus on your core/belly area rather than your head area. It's more important to know Him than know every detail of every question. It's better to leave my blanks unfilled than to fill them in with lies.

"If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself." (John 7:17 New American Standard Bible)

As you grow from this place of knowing the true Jesus and living a surrendered heart of humility you will accurately test things by what I call the Jesus litmus test: if it doesn’t look like the Jesus we have in the gospels, let alone glorified, victorious, resurrected unlimited Jesus, don’t accept it. Even if I don’t have the details filled in of why or how in that moment, through the Jesus litmus test, it becomes clear; even a child can spot an idea that doesn't look like their Big Bro Jesus.

If I stay steadfast as I believe on Jesus and do not compromise to accept the wrongly divided word, it will free me to walk as Jesus did and even more than Jesus. The scriptures reveal Jesus. I can study them like a Pharisee and have no life or I can come to Him and have "LIFE!"

“He healed them all” (Matthew 8:16; 12:15; Acts 10:38 and many more references).

Four Things to Start Doing Today:

  1. Surrender. Some of you may fight this and say, "I already have." But if the fruit is showing otherwise, humbling yourself may be uncomfortable but useful.

  2. Seek truth, even if it means to give up everything. This is a lifetime thing not just a one-time event. Count the cost (grand reveal: it's terrifying at times but so worth it!)

  3. Today, to start with, find three people that need to be healed. Give a short command in a bold fashion for their healing. If you don’t manifest results, ask God what you need to do to change and then put it into practice

  4. Do you have a particular “What about___?” that would be helpful to search out? Go and do it now. Don't settle for the answer that makes sense, but really makes the Jesus litmus test and where you recognize truth in your spirit.

Did you do it? Let me know in the comments section.

In July 2016, while at the Saturday Night Healing Room at the Lage’s house I felt drawn to a certain place but didn’t know why, so I went and stood there.

I said, “Hey, I’m starting to get really hot standing here."

David Lage, in his very matter-of-fact way, said, “Oh, that’s because there’s an angel standing there." He went on to say we needed to partner with the supernatural, rather than just gawk at it.

I said, “Well, I’ve had this weird thing going on with my lungs for about the last month about every day at random times." I had wheezing problems like this every twelve to twenty-four hours. David Lage and Debbie ministered to me and at that point I knew I had been healed.

For the rest of the weekend, I didn’t have any problems with my lungs.

About 48 hours later, I could hear and feel my lungs do that weird thing again; as I breathed in, it felt like I would have a delay to fill the whole lung. I said, "No, in the name of Jesus you go!" I didn’t consider it wouldn't work, and almost immediately, my lungs returned to normal.

I had a light switch moment in which I believed that I was healed. I tolerated that for a month, because, "It wasn't that bad" and it didn’t continuously affect me.

The day after that, my lungs once again sounded weird. I spoke several commanding words in the name of Jesus. However, it didn’t work because what I said and what I expected were two different things. Internally I had a tug as I held onto thoughts of doubt, “Is what I speak going to work?” I struggled with this for half an hour and then took action to get help from a healing group on Facebook. Very quickly after that, it quit.

There were several instances that the symptoms reappeared. I treated it with a toleration policy. Most of the time I got it to go, but if I didn’t I got someone who would. One time I had it five times in one day, which was more intense than before I called myself healed.

While I knew I could make the reoccurrences leave, I knew I wasn’t meant to live that way, but I could live in a place where I could walk free from recurrences. I finally asked God it and I heard, “What you get by grace you keep by grace."

When I walked in that grace, I had no struggle with its return.

When God said the word “grace” I had a context of understanding behind that word; it wasn’t just a nice word we say before a meal. Grace had changed my life! I had experienced His grace that was beyond anything I could ask or think. I didn’t earn it. I didn’t struggle in it. I just yielded to Jesus and this grace flowed out of me and brought life. I had freedom from sin, freedom from demonic influence and restoration physically, healing emotionally, and so much more.

Several months afterward, it tried to afflict me. Once while I interned with David and Patricia Lage, before a healing meeting. Another time was when I told my testimony in a bank to a non-believer. I quietly laid hands on myself to try to get it to lift. Symptoms were not obvious enough for anyone but me to hear. I found a private place, and then made it leave.

Reflections into “Aha”

I did something with the supernatural I sensed. If we hadn’t done anything it’s likely I wouldn’t have gotten healed in that moment. Angels are here to serve. When we speak God’s word, angels are put to work. Their job is to minister salvation; healing is the physical part of salvation.

"Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation." (Hebrews 1:14 New Living Translation)

I had to have a point of release. A point of release is where I accepted it as done. I had been healed. I don’t wait for symptoms to tell me if I had been healed. If symptoms hit me, I viewed this as an attack on my healing, and treated it with a no toleration policy.

To enforce the no toleration policy, I would speak to it and make it leave. I didn’t just let a spirit camp in God’s temple. If I didn’t get it to leave, I asked for help from someone who would get it to go. Though it wasn’t life-threatening, I acted with the intensity of a fight to the death.

Spiritual warfare is as real as physical warfare. In a physical war, we wouldn’t wait to see how long we could tolerate getting beat. We would warrior up or get someone to back us up.

How you can put this “Aha” into action
  1. Next time you encounter the supernatural, don’t gawk, engage. If you don’t know how to engage, ask God and then do what you hear.

  2. Don’t tolerate relapse. Make the sickness, devil, problem leave.

  3. If you don’t get it to leave, call for spiritual backup.

  4. If you know you’re having a gap of understanding, seek the answer.

How did this testimony, teaching, and activation impact you? Let me know in the comments.

1. Be Humble

Osborn was a humble man full of confidence in a great God. He knew who he was in Christ, but he downplayed his own importance. He said, “God needs me; God chose to use me. The world needs me; I choose to go to the world. You know, if He had smarter people, He would use them, but we are all He’s got.”

2. Preach a Simple Gospel

Osborn preached a simple message. He said that every message needs four parts: God’s creation; Satan’s deception; Christ’s substitution; and our restoration. It was this simple message that impacted lives on every continent.

3. Lift People Up

Osborn’s preaching lifted people up and made them feel valuable. He preached, “You are valuable! Never put yourself down. How can you crawl when you are the child of a King? How can you beg when you have the wealth of the universe? How can you burn out when God is the strength of your life? How can you moan when God has put a song in your heart? How can you die inside when Christ is your life?”

4. The Power of a Book

I once was in Congo, Africa, preaching in a mud hut packed full with over 200 people. Chickens pecked their way across the dirt floor as the congregation enthusiastically praised the Lord. I glanced over at the young pastor and noticed he was holding his Bible and another dog-eared book that was carefully covered in gray duct tape.

”Show me what you are reading,” I asked. When he handed me the book, I recognized the title; it was written by T.L. Osborn.

I asked, “Where did you get this book?”

He replied, “Twenty years ago, Dr. Osborn came to my nation. My father got saved at his meeting and decided to become a pastor. Dr. Osborn gave him this book and for 20 years my father preached his sermons from this book. Last year my father died and I became the pastor of this church. Now I preach from the same book.”

5. Miracles Prove Jesus Is Alive

A great part of T.L. Osborn’s success was his beloved wife, Daisy. They were married in 1942 when T.L. was 18 and Daisy was 17. Shortly afterward they committed to travel to India for five years as missionaries, only to return to America after just one year, disappointed they were unable to convince anyone to be a Christian. They showed the people in India the Bible and in return the people showed them a different holy book. When the Osborns were unable to prove which book was true, they gave up and returned home in defeat.

Osborn was changed after he had four encounters with Jesus. One morning at 6am, Jesus appeared to him. On another occasion, Osborn saw Jesus working though another preacher who was praying for the sick. Then, Osborn experienced Jesus working through his own prayers. Finally, Osborn saw Jesus in the pages of the Bible. Because of these revelations about Jesus, T.L. and Daisy returned to the mission field and eventually traveled to more than 90 nations over a half-century of ministry and led millions of people to Jesus.

Osborn often started his sermons by telling the story of a man who had been healed in one of his services. Then he told a story about one of the miracles Jesus performed in the Bible. Then he prayed for the sick. Across the field, cripples lifted their crutches into the air as they were healed. A blind boy was suddenly able to see. A deaf man’s ears were opened. Testimonies flooded the stage as God touched people.

Miracles became the proof to Osborn that Jesus is alive and the Bible is true. The banner on his crusade platform usually featured Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” He explained the differences between Christianity and other religions: “Jesus is the only one who offers proof, the only one who lives today, the only one who can heal the sick.”

6. Words Are Powerful

Osborn came over to my home on three occasions to address a group of preachers on evangelism. We carefully prepared a list of questions. We asked him the first question and he took 3 1/2 hours to answer.

He taught us, “How did God create the world? He used His words. Everything God

does, He does by His words. In the Bible, we have His Word. His talk. We can use our words the same way God uses words. He talks. We have the same ability to talk. Do people get saved, blessed and healed when you talk? They do when I talk. You are like God. You have the ability to speak. God’s Word is seed. When you speak God’s words, they will work.”

7. Jesus Paid the Price

“Is there a price to be paid to be in the healing ministry?” one preacher asked Osborn. The young man wanted to discover how much prayer, fasting and Bible reading it would take to be successful in ministry.

“Yes! There is a very high price to be paid,” Osborn responded, but immediately

followed with, “But Jesus paid it all on the cross!”

In one sentence, Osborn completely changed my theology. When I was beginning in ministry, I desperately wanted to see miracles happen when I preached. I spent many long hours focusing on developing spiritual disciplines. But because of Osborn’s comment, I realized that no matter how much I fast, I will never be able to heal someone though my own effort. By myself, I cannot heal a little toe, let alone cancer or HIV. Neither can I force anyone to get saved. Healings, miracles and salvations never happen because of my effort; they happen because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Dr. Osborn’s insight took the responsibility for miracles off our own self-effort and put the responsibility directly on Jesus. Man likes to think he has paid a price to be anointed but in reality, Jesus already paid the full price. It was this revelation that made Osborn a mighty man of God.
